DATE: Tuesday, June 6, 2023
TIME: 10:00AM to 12:30PM
LEADER: Claudia Freitas
CO-LEADER: Revel Team
Trip is limited to 12 participants - Signups will be taken for 24 hours. 12 participants will be randomly selected. The remainder will be put on standby status in case of cancellations. Only registered people may attend.
DESCRIPTION:
This is an orientation to Santa Margarita Lake, its birds, and where to bird. We hope to see the courtship dancing and perhaps nesting of Western and Clark's Grebes. We will walk and carpool to a number of lakeshore observation points and learn about grebes and take short hikes in search of woodland birds. Terrain: flat blacktop and gravel Distance: We stand mostly, but there will be some walking, approximately one mile. There is a SLO County Parks Fee of $10 per car.
Bring a hat, water, snacks, sunscreen, binoculars and field guides (if you have them) and dress in layers to accommodate wind and changing weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended. Restrooms are available along the way. Rain cancels.
ADA Accessible: Yes, although bring a chair because we stand for 20-plus minutes.
Experience Level: Birders and non-birding nature lovers.
Registration and RSVP to confirmation Required!
