FIELD TRIP: Shorebird ID Made Easy Workshop

Trip is limited to 12 participants - Signups will be taken for 24 hours. 12 participants will be randomly selected. The remainder will be put on standby status in case of cancellations.
DESCRIPTION: What is a 'shorebird?' What is the difference between a peep and a plover? How do you ever tell one shorebird from another? Learn how to tell our most common species apart. Claudia Freitas is an expert in shorebird identification and a presenter for the Morro Bay Bird Festival. Join Claudia for a photo presentation showing the characteristics of our local shorebirds, followed by a walk along the shore to test your new-found knowledge. Presentation will take place in the MCAS Office followed by a visit to a nearby location for in the field identification.
For the workshop, bring a notebook and a field guide if you have one. For the field portion, dress in layers, wear sturdy walking shoes, bring a hat, water, snacks, sunscreen and binoculars. Restrooms are available at both locations.
