DESCRIPTION:
Take a stroll through this truly unique preserve with Mike, our Birding Botanist. Explore the five major plant communities which occupy the ancient sand dunes of Los Osos. Eight hundred year old oaks, pigmy oaks, and coast live oaks together with sage brush and a riparian stream provide multiple habitats for a variety of birds, both migratory and resident. Easy slow walking along woodland trails for about 1.5 miles.
Bring a hat, water, snacks, sunscreen, binoculars and field guides (if you have them) and dress in layers to accommodate wind and changing weather. Long pants and long sleeve shirts are suggested to protect against poison oak. Sturdy shoes are recommended. Restrooms are not available. Rain cancels.
