DESCRIPTION:
Willets, Whimbrels and Curlews, Oh My!! Sandpipers and shorebirds can be confusing. So Identification of Shorebirds will be our goal as we walk along Morro Strand and explore the beach and seasonal pools that often have an amazing variety of species. We hope to see large sandpipers, little peeps, plovers, gulls, terns, and other birds that use our beaches as foraging environments. Learn to identify our most common winter visitors. Walk will be on a flat beach with some areas of deep sand. Expect to walk 1 – 2 miles at a slow pace.
Bring a hat, water, snacks, sunscreen, binoculars and field guides (if you have them) and dress in layers to accommodate wind and changing weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended. Restrooms are available/not available. Rain cancels.
Experience Level: Beginners and Intermediates
