Morro Bay
This year's Morro Bay Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is scheduled for Saturday December 18th. Online registration will open on November 1st on the Morro Coast Audubon website. We ask that you please register before Saturday December 4th so that Area Leaders can assign participants to cover all 54 sectors in the count circle. All experience levels are welcome, and once you participate you'll want to come back and do it again next year!
Due to Covid-19, National Audubon has again put out special guidelines regarding surveying this year. We will inform registrants of any updated protocols via our CBC web page in early December. Be assured that even if participation is below our typical level of effort, the long-term scientific value of our CBC dataset will not be affected.
At this time, we expect that our traditional in-person bird species countdown will again be held virtually via Zoom, as it was last year. Results will also be posted on the MCAS website as soon as the Compiler and Area Leaders have tallied the results from Count Day.

Carrizo Plain
The Carrizo Plain CBC will be held on Sunday January 2, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a chance to bird before and after. We will decide whether to carpool or not, based on COVID concerns, as the date approaches. Please contact Kathanne Lynch at kathannelynch3@gmail.com or 303-968-4750 to participate and be paired with another birder for the count.
