27 participants eagerly signed up and participated in this field trip. The large group split into 2 smaller groups to facilitate providing a quality trip for all.
Roger and Ruth Zachary led one component and Chuck Woodard and Jan Surbey led the other.
Both groups saw over 40 species of birds, including displaying and “dancing” grebes, a Bald Eagle, a pair of red-shouldered hawks at their nest, and one group found the first ever reported Santa Margarita Lake sighting of a yellow-bellied sapsucker.
The next trip, scheduled for March 25th will be limited to 18 participants. See the MCAS website calendar for more information.
